Let’s Chat COVID Restrictions And Entertainment!

February 2, 2021

REBECCA: Since the future is so unknown and we are all still guessing when restrictions will lift, especially with DC currently at 10 people for weddings, we wanted to chat about some creative ways to utilize your entertainment.

LAUREN: So number one, if you are someone who has already booked your entertainment for your wedding,  which you already have, or corporate event, we want to help you get creative and create vignettes for different moments of the night. So say you have a 10-piece band and restrictions don’t allow 10-piece bands with your guests, and you, and any of your other vendors. So take a couple of people and create really beautiful moments throughout the night, where you can still utilize all of those musicians, but there will be less people in the room at the same time. So you can kind of get around a little bit of that by keeping some, you know, behind the scenes for a while. Maybe having a really beautiful duo during dinner and then having them go away and bringing in some more people, maybe a singer and saving the drummer for last for dancing, if you’re able to have any dancing.

REBECCA: So number two would be if you have a large group booked, but your venue is not allowing you to do what Lauren is suggesting and keeping all your team, the best way is really to see if you can just keep that group for another event. Even if you are having a micro wedding now, and you’re not planning on having a big wedding, almost every team we know just wants to work and I’m sure will work with you to either perform for a corporate event later, maybe you have a holiday party, even a birthday party, it’s a great way to go. So when you are thinking of moving things around also consider new parties. Everyone wants to party.

LAUREN And then our third point is if you are looking to have your wedding in the near future and you still want to have a wedding vibe and possibly dancing, some other options to consider that we have really been having fun with are mini bands, where you might have a couple of singers and then maybe just one or two instrumentalists. That kind of helps you stay on the lower end of things, while still allowing for that band sound and having dancing and really upbeat fun stuff for later. Another thing that we have really had fun with is to do DJ fusion groups. If you don’t know what that is, you get to keep the live elements of the band while utilizing a DJ. So say you have a DJ and maybe a saxophonist or singer, electric violin, you can kind of do whatever you want depending on what you’re drawn to, what you like, and that helps bring in that live element. So it’s not just DJ, not just, you know, that kind of one note, you have that interactive piece that you can pull in and it really kind of amps up the party.

REBECCA: And it helps keep your numbers down. So hope that was helpful!
