On-Site Entertainment CoordinatoR

Every Lucy Black event includes a dedicated Entertainment Coordinator on-site, whether or not you're working with an event planner.

They arrive early to confirm setup, run a pre-show huddle with the band, sound team, and emcee, and serve as the single point of contact for anything entertainment-related throughout the night, so no one is chasing down band members directly. They can help cue key moments like your first dance or wedding party introduction, coordinate timing with your planner, photographer and videographer, and adjust the flow in real time if the night runs ahead or behind. They stay until the very end, making sure the entertainment runs exactly as planned from first note to last song.

All you have to do is enjoy the night, while we make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly.

Our custom curated teams, Lucy Black Gold, Lucy Black Electric, Lucy Black Beat Collective, and our premier band, Lucy Black Luxe, are more than a band with great musicians. We sought out artists we know well and value as true team members and artistic partners, not just hired talent for the night. These teams bring real insight and creativity to help design and execute your vision, going far beyond a standard party or wedding band. For micro weddings, we'll also build a custom mini band to bring live music into your ceremony, cocktail hour, or dinner, adjusted to exactly what you need.

We also research, vet, and collaborate with outside groups to make sure you get the right fit for your event, from weddings to bar and bat mitzvahs, galas to corporate events. Whether you want a society band or a party band that covers everything from country to Top 40, Motown to R&B, we'll help you find it.

A DJ is so much more than someone pushing buttons on a laptop. The goal is to hype up the crowd by creating the right mood, giving your guests a truly immersive experience. Our DJs, many born out of the club scene, know how to run a party and read a crowd, but they also understand the art of creating an experience. Whether you want a polished, upscale reception featuring all the top dance and party hits, or want to sprinkle (or pour!) in some club energy, we'll help you find the right fit.

From partnering with live bands for the reception to full fusion groups, we pull from top DJs across the East Coast, the Midwest, and around the country. Just let us know what you're looking for!

Who doesn't love the elegance of a string quartet for a wedding ceremony or cocktail hour? Our string ensembles, DC String Machine and STL String Machine, bring a refined yet modern twist to the traditional string quartet, blending timeless elegance with a vast repertoire spanning classical, pop, rock, R&B, jazz, Broadway, salsa, EDM, and even Bollywood hits.

We collaborate with accomplished string players who perform with major orchestras, opera houses, and soloists. Depending on your vision, we can create a full string ensemble, a string quartet, or a soloist. A smaller group is also a perfect fit for your mini or micro wedding!

Going beyond standard smooth jazz, we bring authentic jazz experiences to your event, collaborating with top musicians from the New York City, Washington, D.C., and Midwest jazz scenes.

Our multilingual musical partner, Café Internationale, artfully blends the raw energy of gypsy jazz, the sensual pull of French chanson, and the heat of Latin ballads with stylish American swing. Performing in several languages with real authenticity and flair, this ensemble brings deep passion and cosmopolitan style to every set.
