Rayshun LaMarr, working with Lucy Black Entertainment, appeared to sing two songs at my father's memorial service on Sept. 21. They were the spiritual "Wade in the Water," and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." He learned these songs for the occasion and sung unaccompanied. His presence and performance were excellent.

The words Gail used with me yesterday to describe the service included, “beyond belief, perfect, touching, integrated, right length, transporting, the singer was glorious, transcended everything I expected, and I feel giantly fulfilled and mellowed with the whole experience.”

Here's what I wrote him following the occasion: "On behalf of the family, I am writing to express how thrilled we were by your performance at the Celebration of Life service at for my Dad on September 21. "Your performance was amazing in all respects: your presence, your voice, your delivery of the two songs, and your syncopating taps on the podium during your singing of Wade in the Water. Especially wonderful was how you invited the audience to sing along with the chorus of Hallelujah, which we feel united the group with love in a VERY special way. And then . . . your voice rising above (2?) octaves to finish off that song. Oh my goodness you have talent!!!!! " Rayshun has amazing talent and we recommend wholeheartedly.
